Supplier Sustainability Assessments
We offer services to help organisations assess the sustainability performance of their suppliers’ operational practices. Our methodology is based on the framework of One Planet Living Principles and uses a simple questionnaire for suppliers to respond to with background documents and information. We produce a short report for client and supplier containing an assessment of current practices shown as a star rating, recommended actions and a toolkit to help companies improve their performance.
Carbon footprints for organisations
We can undertake full carbon footprints of organisations and have experience of doing this with local authorities, retailers and facilities management companies. Our assessment methodology calculates a footprint that includes both direct emissions from fuel consumption and also all emissions from procurement. We use the TBL2 tool which uses financial expenditure data to calculate a full Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions footprint. Scope 3 emissions include all the emissions embodied in products, goods and services bought by an organisation. This methodology is cost effective and can provide an understanding of where ‘hotspots’ may occur in the supply chain.
Material and product assessments
Through our experience with One Planet Products, BedZED, B&Q and in the wider construction industry we have many years of experience of specifying low impact building material. We use this experience to undertake sustainability assessments of construction materials for clients. We produce carbon footprints and simplified life cycle assessments to examine the likely contribution of transport and end of life solutions for the materials under consideration. We can provide advice on impacts of raw materials, end of life hazards, recyclability, toxicity, durability and any other relevant indicators to enable clients to make informed decision on the most sustainable construction systems for their purposes.
One Planet Action Plans
BioRegional provide a service to assist a company in becoming more sustainable through the development of a One Planet Action Plan. We work with the client using workshops and surveys of existing company culture assist the organisation in the formulation of an action plan based on the One Planet Principles. The action plan summarises low, medium and high cost measures as well as sources of information or further support for delivering the action.
